♥ the maine

there is still something to be said for desire, and it just takes a handful of passion to start a fire.

July 8th, 2013. Five years ago today, The Maine released their debut full-length album: Can’t Stop Won’t Stop. And they could not have chosen a more appropriate title, as I couldn’t stop and, five years later, will probably never stop listening to this album and this band. This release has marked the start of the five wonderful, honorable and life-changing years of my existence: the beginning of a chapter I wish to never stop writing. Being young (and stupid and restless…), in the midst of High School and newly being introduced to the music industry and it’s perks and flaws, it’s ups and downs, right and wrong’s, yes and no’s, do’s and don’ts. I was oblivious, but open-minded. I was naïve, but curious. Curious to what was out there, what was yet to come. What would spark my mind, and why. Why Can’t Stop Won’t Stop spoke to me, and stuck with me, I can’t really say. Maybe I’ve simply forgotten, or maybe I’m trying to decipher something that didn’t need a reason, maybe I’m trying to explain something that can’t be explained. Because how could I have known – back then – what this album would come to mean to me, how this band would turn my life upside down? How could I have anticipated something so surreal, so sudden, so inexplicable? At the time, it was just another album, a summer tune on the warm nights, a little comfort on the cold ones. Maybe I understood the meaning of it back then, but I think that came later. Understanding (and respect, admiration but most of all, awe) came when I met the guys behind the music, the stories behind the lyrics, the family behind the portrait. I learned about their lives, their dreams, their visions and their future plans. I fell in love, and I became part of the warmest, most sincere and loyal and passionate family there is. Because that’s what it is, that’s what all these people mean to me – that’s what this album has initiated. A family. A feeling. A story. And now, a handful albums later, a million fans gained, a worldwide home: this story is still unfinished; chapter after chapter; line after line. We’re all a part of it. We’re never alone. We’ll never stop listening. We can’t!Can’t Stop Won’t Stop is now on sale on iTunes, listen if you haven’t yet, be amazed and don’t forget: We all have been degraded. We all will be the greatest.
